A little bit of random

Since Father's Day I've been feeling a bit down in the dumps.  I haven't been sleeping well (again) so I know that is part of it,  The weather has rainy and dreary too so that's probably part of it too.  Otherwise I don't really know the cause.  I'm sure I'll snap out of it soon though.  It's weird...I'll go through a really good stretch and then boom, out of nowhere comes a down phase.  Ugh.

I went back to the dentist to get my fillings and did't get any family planning advice.  I did get asked if there was any chance I was pregnant, but I understand that since they did need to give me novocaine.  It took about an hour and then I got to go to work.  My half-numb face and slurred speech were fun in my afternoon meetings.  It's good that I can laugh at myself.

The Supreme Court of the United States came down with a ruling on Friday that effectively legalized same sex marriage and overturned all state bans or constitutional amendments preventing it.  I am pro equality and pro civil rights and this was long overdue, in my opinion.  A very happy day indeed!

  1. Yes, it can be very frustrating when you're hit with the blues. All we can do is roll with it, and hope they disappear soon.
Being able to laugh at ourselves is a great gift! Good for you.
Yes - a happy day indeed! I've spent the weekend looking at all my US friends celebrating on social media. It has made many of us happy all over the world.

    1. Rolling with it is the plan, that and trying to not beat myself up over it.

It's sad that it took this long and that it took a Supreme Court ruling, but it's a huge first step in the right direction! Seeing all of the rainbow clad profile pictures on Facebook (mine included) makes me giddy!

  2. It's hard when those downs hit us and yes, sometimes it does come out of nowhere. I hope it only stays a short time for you and things turn around. Sometimes, all we can do is hang on until it's over. Sending you hugs.

Laughing at yourself is good therapy. And sometimes, if you are able to laugh often and enough, it can make you feel a bit better.

It's good to see a lot of countries beginning to get with the times on a topic that has been on everyone's minds for a long time now.

    1. Thanks for the hugs! It feels a lot less lonely to know others get these down in the dumps phases too.

I laugh at myself often...part of that is because I'm a huge klutz and am always doing stupid stuff. :)

It's funny, some of the people on my Facebook page expressed a desire to move to Canada after the ruling. I kindly pointed out that equal marriage has bee legal in Canada for over a decade. So then they must have actually done some research and decided that they were moving to Australia. So Australia needs to get with it now!

    2. Yeah, I think Australia will continue to lag behind with the current government we have. Now, if we get a change in government, maybe but the current one is more concerned about taking away health care from the public and money from the pensioners.

    3. I have two Aussie friends, and that makes two who are none too happy with Mr. Abbot. I just don't understand politicians......
