And then there was me

I found out one sister was pregnant last summer.  My niece was born in early February.

I found out another sister was pregnant last fall.  My niece was born in early June.

I found out today that my third sister is pregnant.  Due in February.  It wasn't unexpected.  I'm happy for her (them).  It wasn't easy for them to conceive.  It took two years and several IUIs.

Thankfully I do not have any more sisters (or brothers).

I'm taking it hard.

  1. That's tough. I know you are happy for your third sister. But it would be so much easier for you if you were not the only one among your siblings to remain childless.

And she is only 3 months pregnant. Which means 6 hard months for you are coming.

What can I say? I am always there for you, if you need a friend to talk to.

I have only one brother. But we lived all my childhood years in a big house where there were 4 kids: my brother and me and our two younger cousins. My brother & two cousins have the total of 6 kids under the age of 8. I have zero kids. It sucks.

    1. Thanks, Klara! It does suck. But I'll get through it, just like the other two. :)

  2. Sending you hugs. I only have to deal with one sister so I can't even imagine having to deal with three. It's such a tough thing to have to deal with on top of everything else.

    1. Thanks, C! It's hard whether there's one or three, particularly when you're simultaneously happy for them and sad for you.

  3. More (((hugs))) coming from me. My only sister is childfree by choice, so I've never had to deal with this. (In laws, extended family & friends is hard enough...!) Hopefully, eventually, having all those adorable nieces & nephews to spoil will add some joy to soothe the pain.

    1. Thanks so much, loribeth! The end result of all of their pregnancies, my nieces and nephew, do soften the blow a little bit. Because there's nothing better than being able to spoil children and return them to their owners. ;)

  4. That's some year you are having! Wow, that's a lot. As someone who only has one nephew, I can say you will likely enjoy the new addition, but at a later date. Now is just hard. You just might hold the record for "# of new nieces and nephews in the first year grieving loss of children" - they do document these things, don't they??

We do have many nieces and nephews on my husband's side, but haven't yet figured out how to maneuver that shit show......I'll write about it sometime but it's an equation that involves 6 sisters (he's the only boy), a rural Central American background, many illegitimate children and practically no fathers to be found. Reality TV worthy, for sure.

    1. I did the math....once this baby is born, I will have endured at least one sister being pregnant for 22 consecutive months. And this started approximately three months after I was diagnosed with infertility. Excellent timing, huh?

I can't wait to read about your husband's family! Gotta love family fuckedupness.
