I'm sick and June reading

Who gets a sinus infection and respiratory infection at the same time in the summer?  This girl.  Ugh.  Antibiotics, a breathing treatment in the office, an Albuterol inhaler, and rest were prescribed.  I don't get sick often, but when I do it's always at the most inconvenient times.  I don't have time for this crap!

I made it one of my 2015 goals to read at least two books per month (links to past posts here).  I've done a pretty good job to this point, but this month life happened and I didn't meet my goal.  :(

I did read Ever Upward by Justine Brooks Froelker (review here) earlier this month, but that's the only book I managed to read in June.  So I believe that brings my annual total up to 14.75.  Hopefully I'll be able to meet my goal in July!

  1. You're doing well with the reading. I hope that you get to relax a little to recover - being sick in the summer is horrible - and maybe read some more. Get well soon.

    1. Thanks, Mali! I slept almost 11 hours last night, which is shocking considering I can't even tell you the last time I slept for eight consecutive hours, and then spent the day alternating between watching TV and napping. I think the sleep and the antibiotics have led to me feeling a lot better than yesterday.

  2. Oh, I so know those awful sinus infections. They usually find me twice a year. It's hard to decide which is worse: the illness or the drugs prescribed to combat it. Sending healing thoughts and hugs your way...

    1. Thanks, Pamela! I'm good for two sinus infections a year, too, and they suck. And you are so right about the drugs which is the reason I put off going to the doctor longer than I should.

  3. I'm sorry to read that you are not well right now. Getting the flu during summer is definitely not fun at all. Rest up, drink lots of fluids and I found chicken soup really does help but the fresh stuff you make yourself. I wish I wasn't prone to illness as much as I am. It'd be nice not to get sick often!

That's still a pretty good number of books so far this year! I always think it'd be interesting to do one of these reading challenges but I know what I'm like and I'd probably forget! Or rather, I'm so picky with what I read that I often can't find something I like enough. Amazon is in a dry spell for books right now. All the volumes I am waiting on are part of a series and won't be released until November.

    1. Pushing the fluids pretty hard and hubs made me chicken and noodles which really hit the spot and made me feel better.

I'm not too picky with books. My strategy usually consists of going to the library and grabbing a few off of the "popular books" shelves that look interesting (translation: have an interesting cover). Sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. :)

  4. Glad you are starting to feel better. I have seasonal allergies that are worse some years vs others... and I've had a lot of post-nasal drip/scratchy throat going on this week. Blech!

    1. You nailed it, some years are way worse than others. I have a lot of mold/mildew allergies and it's rained a ton this year so I think that's the root cause of my current situation. I hope you're feeling better too!
